Privacy Policy
This policy explains what we do with your personal information when you visit our website, open an account, or order personalised photo products from us. It also explains the rights you have and how to use them.
Last updated: 22 September 2026
1. Who we are
Printerpix Trading L.L.C is responsible for your personal information when you use printerpix.ae. We are licensed by the Department of Economy and Tourism, Dubai, under licence number 1520624, at Aspin Commercial Tower, Sheikh Zayed Road, Trade Centre 1, 20th Floor, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. We handle your personal information having regard to UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 on the Protection of Personal Data.
You can reach us about privacy at any time at [email protected], or by writing to the address above.
2. What we collect and why
We collect what we need to sell you a product, make it, get it to you, and run our website.
| What we collect | What we use it for | Our legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Account details — name, email, password | Creating your account, signing you in, and keeping your saved projects | Performing our contract with you |
| Order and delivery details — name, delivery and billing address, phone number, what you ordered | Taking, making and delivering your order, and handling returns, reprints and complaints | Performing our contract with you |
| Payment details — handled by the payment company, which tells us the type and the last four digits | Taking payment, making refunds, and preventing fraud | Performing our contract, and our legitimate interest in preventing fraud and misuse of payment methods |
| Photographs, images and text you upload — including information your camera saves inside the file | Making the product you ordered. Sections 3, 4 and 5 set out exactly what happens to them. | Performing our contract with you |
| Messages you send us | Answering your questions and handling complaints. An AI assistant helps us draft replies, explained in section 6. | Performing our contract, and our legitimate interest in running a support service |
| Reviews and ratings you write | Publishing them on our site so other customers can read them, and improving our products. See section 7. | Your consent when you submit a review, and our legitimate interest in showing customers honest feedback |
| Marketing preferences, and whether you open our emails | Sending you offers if you have asked for them, and knowing which are worth sending | Your consent, which you can withdraw at any time |
| How you use our site — IP address, rough location, device, browser and operating system, where you came from, pages viewed, what you clicked, how long you stayed | Keeping the site working and secure, understanding how it is used and where it confuses people, and showing you our advertising elsewhere. See section 14. | For what is strictly necessary, our legitimate interest in a working, secure site. For everything else, your consent, which you give or change in cookie settings. |
All of this comes from you, apart from delivery updates sent to us by couriers, confirmation of payment from the company that takes it, pictures you bring in from another service as described in section 3, and the information your own device sends through cookies. Section 9 says who else sees each of these and why.
We do not collect special category information. We do not ask for, and do not knowingly hold, information about things like your health, religion, ethnicity, political opinions or sexual orientation, or genetic or biometric data. We also do not analyse your photographs to work any of that out, and we never create biometric data from them.
If you do not give us this information. Where we need information to perform our contract with you, your delivery address for example, we cannot complete your order without it, and we may have to cancel it. We will tell you at the time if that happens. Everything else is optional and refusing it does not affect your order.
3. Your photos
This section sets out what happens to the pictures and text you upload.
- We store them to make your order. We keep the images and text you upload so we can produce what you bought, so you can finish a project you started, and so we can reprint if something goes wrong.
- If you bring pictures in from another account. As well as uploading from your device, you can take pictures straight from Facebook, Instagram, Google Photos, Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, Box or Flickr, or from a web address you paste in. When you choose one of those services it asks you to sign in and to approve the connection, and we receive only the pictures you actually select. We do not take your friends list, your contacts, your other albums or anything else from the account, we do not read it again afterwards, and we never post anything to it. Once a picture is in the editor we treat it exactly like one uploaded from your device, and the rest of this section applies to it in the same way. You can end the connection at any time in your settings with that service, and our access stops from that moment.
- Information we receive from Google. Our use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Pictures you bring across from Google Photos or Google Drive are used only to make the product you are creating. We do not use them for advertising, we do not sell them, and nobody reads them except where that is needed to produce your order, where you have asked us to, or where the law requires it.
- Where they sit while you are designing. We use several design tools, depending on the product. Some we build and run ourselves. Others come from specialist suppliers who run them for us under a written contract, and with those your pictures sit on that supplier's systems while you are working on your design. Either way, they may only ever be used to run the tool for us, never for anything of the supplier's own.
- Pictures carry hidden information. Most cameras and phones save extra details inside an image file: the date and time it was taken and, often, the location. We receive that with the picture. If you would rather not send it, you can usually turn location tagging off in your phone or camera settings before you take the photo.
- We do not use face recognition. We do not analyse your photographs to identify, group or tag anyone.
- We never publish or sell them. We will not make your images public, pass them to anyone to use for their own purposes, or put them in our own advertising unless you have specifically agreed. Tagging us, mentioning us or using one of our hashtags is not agreement.
- How long we keep them. Six months from the date of your order, so we can handle reprints and complaints, and then we delete them permanently. Projects you start but do not order are kept for twelve months. The full list of periods is in section 8, and this matches our Terms and Conditions.
- You can delete them yourself at any time from your account, and you can ask us to delete your whole account. See section 12. If you do, we will not be able to reprint an earlier order afterwards, because the files will be gone.
4. Other people in your photos
Pictures often include other people: family, friends, children, a wedding party. They did not deal with us directly, so this section is about them.
- Why we are allowed to handle their images. We rely on our legitimate interest, and yours, in being able to make a photo product of the people in your life. In almost every case we could not work out who the people in a picture are, and we do not try to.
- What we ask of you. Please only upload pictures of other people where you are comfortable that they would not mind. If a photograph shows someone who might object, particularly someone else's child, please ask them first, and point them to this policy.
- Sending a product to someone else. If you give us another person's name and address so we can deliver to them, we use those details only to deliver the order, on the same legitimate interest basis, and we delete them on the same timetable as the rest of your order.
- If you are the person in the picture. If you believe an image of you has been uploaded and you want it dealt with, email [email protected]. We will look into it and, where we can identify the image, remove it. Please understand we may not be able to find a picture from a description alone.
5. Artificial intelligence
Some of what our design tools do happens automatically, using artificial intelligence. This section sets out what that means for your pictures.
- Automatic layout. Our auto-fill feature builds a photo book from the pictures you have uploaded, choosing an order and arrangement for them. To do that our software looks at the images: their shape, quality and how they group together.
- Automatic improvement. Our tools can adjust brightness and colour, increase resolution so a picture prints well at a larger size, and remove a background. To do this the picture is sent to a specialist provider who processes it for us and sends the result straight back.
- None of this makes decisions about you. It arranges and improves pictures. It does not decide anything about you, your account, what you are charged or what you are offered.
6. When you contact us
When you message us, what you write, including anything personal you put in it, is processed using a generative AI model to draft a reply. It is used only to deal with your request. A person on our team always decides what we actually send you, and the model is run for us by a specialist provider.
7. Reviews you write
If you leave a review we publish it on our site, together with the first name and last initial you give us and the date. Anyone visiting the site can read it, and search engines may index it. Please do not put anything in a review you would not want public. You can ask us to remove your review at any time at [email protected].
8. How long we keep your information
We keep information only as long as we need it. The periods we apply are set out below.
| What | How long we keep it | Why that long |
|---|---|---|
| Photographs, images and text you upload | Six months from the date of your order | So we can reprint or put right a problem with what we made. This matches our Terms and Conditions. |
| Projects you start but never order | Twelve months from when you last worked on it | So you can come back and finish something without starting again. |
| Items left in your basket | 30 days | So you can come back and check out without starting over. |
| Your account | For as long as you keep it open | You can close your account at any time in your account settings, or ask us to close it. See section 12. |
| Order and delivery records | For as long as UAE tax and accounting law requires | We stop using these records for anything else once the order is finished. |
| Payment records | Kept with the order record above | The card type and last four digits sit on the order so we can match a refund to a payment. |
| Messages you send our support team | 365 days from the day the conversation ends | So we can deal with a repeat problem or a complaint about the same order. |
| Reviews you write | Until you ask us to take it down | They stay on the site so other customers can read them. |
| Marketing preferences | Until you withdraw them, and then we keep a record that you opted out | So we do not email you again by mistake. |
| How you use our site | 14 months, counted from your most recent visit | So we can compare one year against the last and see where the site confuses people. |
| Cookies and similar technologies | Each one has its own lifetime, listed in the cookie settings panel | See section 14. |
Where we no longer need information but cannot delete it, because we have to keep a record of a sale, we stop using it for anything else.
9. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. Below is everyone we share it with, and why. Each receives only what it needs for that purpose:
- Making and delivering your order: our production sites, printers and courier companies.
- Taking payment: PayPal, which also processes our card payments, including cards you present through Apple Pay. If you pay with Klarna you are dealing with that company directly. You enter your details on their screens, not ours, they decide for themselves what to do with what you give them, and their own privacy policy applies alongside this one. Klarna also carries out a check before agreeing to lend you the money. That decision is theirs, we are not told how they reached it, and we cannot change it. Whichever you use, we receive confirmation that you have paid and enough to identify the payment, such as the card type and the last four digits. We never receive the full card number.
- Running our design tools: the specialist suppliers behind some of them, which hold the pictures you upload while you are working on a design. The rest we run ourselves.
- Running our website and emails: our hosting providers, our email platform, and the tool that runs our cookie banner.
- Improving your pictures and helping us answer you: the specialist providers that run the jobs described in sections 5 and 6.
- Understanding and advertising our site: Google, including YouTube where we embed a video, Meta and Microsoft, together with our analytics and affiliate partners. What any of them receives depends on the cookie choices you make, and the cookie settings panel names every one of them.
- Other companies in our group: our colleagues in the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area, the United States and India, who help run the business. See section 10.
- Where the law requires it: to comply with a legal obligation, or to establish or defend legal claims. That is our legal basis for those disclosures.
- If our business changes hands: a buyer would receive customer information as part of the sale, and would be bound by this policy.
We do not allow our service providers to use your information for their own purposes. They may only process it for the purposes we specify, in accordance with our instructions, and under a written contract.
The exceptions are the companies you deal with directly: the payment companies, the advertising companies named above, and any buyer of the business. Their own privacy notices apply to what they do next.
10. Sending information to other countries
Your information may be handled outside the United Arab Emirates, in the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area, the United States and India, by us and by the companies that work for us. We protect it with written contracts requiring the same standard of protection that applies here, and we will give you details on request. The same safeguards cover the pictures and messages we send to the providers described in sections 5 and 6.
Our website and the photographs you upload are hosted in the United Kingdom. The exceptions are the design tools and the steps described in sections 5 and 6, where the supplier running them holds the file while it works on it.
11. Keeping your information safe
We protect your information, including your photographs, with appropriate technical and organisational measures, including encryption of data sent between you and us. Access is limited to the people who need it to do their jobs, and they are under a duty of confidentiality. We have a procedure for dealing with any suspected breach, and we will tell you and the relevant regulator where the law requires us to.
No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee the security of information you send us over the internet.
12. Your rights
You can ask us to:
- Show you what we hold about you, and give you a copy.
- Correct it if it is wrong or incomplete.
- Delete it, where we no longer need it.
- Limit what we do with it while we look into a query about it.
- Send it to you or someone else in a portable format, where we hold it on the basis of your consent or your contract.
- Withdraw a consent you have given, at any time. That does not affect anything we did before you withdrew it.
You also have the right to object. Where we rely on our legitimate interests, set out in section 2 and in the sections that follow, you can object at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation, and we will stop unless we have compelling grounds that override your rights. Where we use your information for direct marketing, you can object at any time and we will stop immediately, no reason needed. You also have the right to object to decisions made by automated processing, including profiling.
Email [email protected] and we will answer within one month. If your request is unusually complex we may need up to two further months, and we will tell you within the first month if so. There is no charge. You can also see and change much of your information yourself in your account settings.
13. How to complain
Tell us first and we will look into it. Email [email protected] or write to us at the Dubai address in section 1. We will confirm we have received your complaint within 30 days, look into it properly, and tell you the outcome.
If we refuse a request you have made about your information, we will tell you why.
If you are still not satisfied you may raise the matter with the competent UAE federal authority responsible for personal data protection. Complaining to us first does not affect that right.
14. Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep the site working, to understand how it is used, and to show you advertising. You choose which of these you allow when you first arrive, and you can change your choice at any time in cookie settings.
The full list is in the same place. Open cookie settings, choose to see the details, and you will find every cookie and similar technology we use, what it is for, who sets it and how long it lasts. That list is generated from the live site, so it stays current.
Advertising companies decide some things for themselves. When you agree to advertising cookies, we and the advertising company, Google or Meta for example, are jointly responsible for collecting that information and passing it on. What they do with it afterwards is under their own privacy notice. You can exercise your rights against either of us, and you can withdraw your consent at any time in cookie settings.
15. Children
Our site is meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect information about anyone under 18, and if we find we hold any we will delete it. If you think a child has given us their information, tell us at [email protected] and we will remove it.
Children in photographs are different. Our customers order products of their own families, so we handle pictures of children every day as an ordinary part of making orders. We do that on the customer's instruction and for no other purpose. The protections in section 4 apply to children in pictures exactly as they do to any other person.
16. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it was last changed, and if we change something that matters we will say so on this page.
